Ambra grew up switching between Italy and the Dominican Republic where she studied fine arts and fashion design at The Altos de Chavón school of Design affiliated with Parsons NY. She continued her fashion education in Paris at L’ Ecole de la Chambre Syndicle and later moved to Berlin to intern for the fashion label Reality Studio. Ambra also has styling experience and has worked as a stylist for companies such as Titan Film and Avant Garde. In 2014 Ambra launched her own textiles influenced label Ambra Fiorenza Berlin and continues to grow her own business whilst freelancing as a teacher for Subcultours and now us.
Grace Nicholas is a Production and Costume Designer from Bristol who lives in Berlin. She has been successfully developing her career in theatre, film and editorial since graduating from the Costume Design course at University of the Arts London. She has worked for companies such as Warner Brothers, Sony and Vogue amongst others. Currently, Grace co-runs an art collective called So Sick Communications, as well as working in costume.
Mariya Ivanova is a Costume Designer and Dressmaker from London, and holds a costume degree from Wimbledon College of Art. With years of experience behind her working in the fashion industry as well as on film sets and in the wardrobe departments of theatres, she also worked as a sewing teacher for a popular company called Saturday Sewing Session (www.saturdaysewingsession.co.uk) , based in the London borough of Chelsea. During the years that she spent teaching for SSS, Mariya developed a love and passion for not only practicing her work but also passing on her knowledge to others. Berlin Sewing Salon has been greatly inspired by Saturday Sewing Session, where great customer service meets excellent teaching. SSS provides a service that is encouraging and that values their customers and their feedback. They always strive for all of their students to have a wonderful time, and come out feeling happy and proud. Mariya’s aim is to bring some of that magic to Berlin!
